What? The Headway Gwynedd Snowdonia Networking Trek is being organised for as an outdoor way of networking by Headway Gwynedd (a branch of Headway – the brain injury association). The event is supported by FSB Gwynedd, CMI North Wales Network and Gwynedd Business Network.
Why? To mark Action on Brain Injury Week 14-20 May by raising awareness of the effects of brain injury and promoting prevention, and raise funds for Headway Gwynedd’s activities.
Where? Rhyd Ddu, Beddgelert. The Trek starts from the car park by the Welsh Highland Railway station. The Ty Mawr teashop will be open for a cuppa beforehand. There will be opportunity to relax together afterwards and enjoy a meal at Ty Mawr or the Cwellyn Arms.
When? The Trek starts at 9.30 am on 20th May. to the summit of Snowdon and back, using the Rhyd Ddu Path, see http://www.summitpost.org/rhyd-ddu-path/156156. Estimated distance 9 miles return, ascent 2,936ft (895 metres). (Subject to public transport times, the Snowdon Ranger Path may be included to make horseshoe route. )
Who? The Trek is for people interested in outdoor networking, including those from business, public and voluntary sectors and other Headway supporters. People taking part must have a good level of fitness for hard mountain walking.
How much? Nothing on registration. People registering for the walk will be asked to raise sponsorship for Headway Gwynedd and guarantee to raise at least £10 when registering, we trust some will raise much more.
Leader: Mark Sykes has led each year’s Trek and has a BEd (Bangor) in Outdoor Education and is an experienced mountain climber and walker with his own outdoor pursuits company 'Off The Beaten Track’ www.offthebeatentrackuk.co.uk.
